a frozen sculpture made with his own blood
the 1st blood head was made in 1991. since then the artist collects his own blood over a number of months (4.5 liters of blood / 5 months aprox.) and has made a new cast every 5 years, documenting his own transformation and ultimate deterioration. the work is carefully maintained in a refrigeration unit.

I’m in love with this. I first came across it once before when I was thinking about working in blood for art some how (funny how I would come across it again while I’m starting art back up in school). This is a much better image of it (as I posted it before).
